Vinod Khosla, a descendant of India who is settled in United States, is a venture capitalist and a very prominent character of the Silicon valley. Vinod was born on 28th of January 1955 and his place of birth is New Delhi.
Vinod Khosla, co-founded Sun Microsystems and is also the 1st chief executive officer and chairperson of Sun Microsystems.
Vinod in 1986, became the partner of a capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, now Kleiner Perkins. It was in 2004 when he founded his personal venture capital firm called Khosla Ventures.
Mr. Khosla belongs to a Punjabi family. His father has served the Indian army whose posting was in New Delhi. When Khosla was just a 14 years old boy, he came to know about Intel which gave him the inspiration to take up the technology as his career.
Vinod received his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He got his masters degree in biomedical engineering masters from Mellon University of Pittsburgh and also did masters in business management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Following his completion of masters in business administration degree in 1980 from Stanford University, he took a job at Daisy Systems and in 1982, he along with his batch mates set up a new company known as Sun Microsystems. He served the company for two years after which he left it and joined another company.
When Vinod joined hands with Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers, he became well known as a venture capitalist. He is quite renowned for backing up ventures that have proved successful and some which have turned to be disastrous.
Vinod Khosla has also invested his money in small non government organisations, shortly as NGO’s, particularity those that help poor and needy women of the countryside. He founded Khosla Ventures, currently located in California city of United States, in 2004.
He is married to Neeru Khosla and has four children named as Neal Khosla, Nina Khosla, Vani Khosla, Anu Khosla.
His net worth as on 28th of June, 2018, was valued at US$2.7 billion.
Vinod Khosla was honoured with EY Entrepreneur of the Year award back in 2007.
